WHAT IS MEDIATION?
Mediation is a simple, inexpensive form of alternate dispute resolution as opposed to more formal options such as litigation or arbitration. In short, mediation is a dispute resolving process available when disputants possess a genuine desire to mediate and expect to achieve mutaully satisfying solutions by participating voluntarily in a settlement process guided by a trained mediator. Mediation is consentual. Mediation is a private matter. Everything said in mediation is confidential.
WHO ARE MEDIATORS?
Mediators are neutral intermediaries, who, when retained by disputants to mediate disputes, apply their training and interpersonal relationship skills to guide and assist conflicting parties towards settlement of their differences. The mediator attempts to maintain a cordial, non-threatening and constructive atmosphere that will allow the parties to voluntarily reach a mutually accepted solution. Mediators are licensed and are bound by statute to adhere to best practices and ethical behavior.
Don DeLucas is a Florida Supreme Court Civil Circuit Mediator. With an extensive real estate backgound as a real estate broker and license law instructor for 25 years, he has the requiste expertise, training and market skills to handle real estate disputes. Don has a Master Degree and has earned the GRI designation from the National Association of Realtors, serving as the qualifying broker for his own real estate company. He has also served on the Greivance Committee and the Education Committee with the Melbourne Realtors Association in Melbourne, Florida.
